Screen Protector for the Scroll Tablet PC

Postby admin » December 17th, 2010, 3:59 pm

Upon asking Storage Options if there is an 'official' screen protector for the Scroll, they informed me that there wasn't one. There don't appear to be any unofficial ones either at present, but Storage Options did tell me some users are simply using the protective film that came with the device.

The problem with this film is that its not a screen protector - unless it was put on perfectly, there will no doubt be a few bubbles here and there, and it will not last because it's not designed to do so.

For now, the best thing you can do is either not use one (if you want to take that chance) or to buy an iPad screen protector and cut it down to size, or buy a samsung galaxy tab one which is slightly small than the scroll but would be a good fit with a few minor modifications. One thing to note however - screen protector designed for capacitive touch screens (like the ipad and galaxy) may reduce the sensitivity of the Scrolls resistive touch screen.

If you've got a screen protector solution, feel free to share it with others below!

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

There was 3 or 4 big bubbles under mine, I just used the sleeve of my jumper and spread them slowly toward the edge of the screen where the air released out the side

Managed to get all but a tiny pin bubble out with this method

Detection,

nice simple tip - got rid of 2 bubbles in the centre of the screen now, just one at edge that will not go, probably a bit of grease there or something - I am toying with the idea to take the screen protector off completely.

I took mine off, not really sure it's meant to be a permanent thing ...

Tesco do a generic protector http://m.tesco.com/mt/direct.tesco.com/ ... -9451.aspx which are oversize for the screen. Should be ok with a bit of trimming. I don't know what the quality is like, I haven't been there yet but at 6 pounds for two have to be worth a try.
