How do you get the wi-fi working with this release. I am able to browse networks and input the wep key but it just sticks at obtaining IP address , this is happening on all wireless networks with or without security. Apart from that great build

Static IP Jamie

Press menu when you are in the wireless settings part and choose Static

No joy with that unfortunately it is still trying to obtain an IP address even when its set on static IP.

Did you give it an IP, netmask & gateway?

Hmm this was a problem before the softmac file from 2.1 was pushed to 2.2

Jamie, if you know how to use the adb commands you need to pull the softmac file from 2.1 - and then push it into 2.2 and reboot

I have got no idea how to use ADB but from reading a few of the posts it seems like most people just start to learn it on the forums.

Also it may be of use to know that I forgot to make a backup , wont be doing that again

Oh dear - unless someone has a stock backup to upload for you your gonna be stuck with 2.2 for now

Once you get hold of a 2.1 backup, flash it to your scroll via ClockWorkMod and then you need to download the Android SDK, and the USB Drivers that come with ClockWorkMod from this site

Plug the scroll into the PC (Dont mount any drives) and goto device manager, find the android device that is in need of a driver and point it to the USB drivers you downloaded, install it as Android Composite Device

Next open a command prompt inside of the ADB tools folder in the SDK (Hold shift, right click inside the folder, choose open command prompt here)

type the following on a 2.1 scroll

adb pull /data/softmac

Now reboot into 2.2, do the same opening a command prompt inside the ADB folder

adb push softmac /data

reboot the scroll
