Restoring the Scroll to factory defaults

Postby Detection » January 6th, 2011, 2:27 am

Is there a set of buttons we can press to restore the scroll back to its original condition, even if we have deleted parts of its OS etc ?

I was reading earlier about flashing the recovery image to a new one, does this mean there is an image that will completely restore this tablet no matter what we do to its current OS so long as we dont touch the image ?

If thats right, how is it done ?

I havent broken it...... yet... but good to be prepared ;)

Once we get Images of all the stock parts of the OS (which I will do when I get mine) you should be able to always flash a new version of system/boot/etc as long as you have a working recovery mode.
If we manage to bugger up the recovery mode then its a bit more troublesome lol

Yes, I am not touching anything until I am happy I have a backup and recovery nailed down :)

So we need to basically ROM dump the scrolls OS to make a recovery image ?

Ive got an HTC Touch Diamond, which I am constantly flashing to new ROMs, but I always keep a stock ROM on the 4GB Storage card incase I break something as I can just hold down 3 buttons, enter the bootloader and flash that ROM again, and in a few minutes have a stock Diamond again

Deffinately need something like that considering we are all the guinea pigs for our own experiments !

The scroll differes slighlty in that its recovery mode is what is used to flash Images onto the device - we bugger that up we are in a bit of trouble (although you can re-flash teh recovery from a live system using tools from clockworkmod)

"Good job these are not £500" are the words that come to mind right now... lol

I don't think we will brick them, research and patience is the key, that and letting someone else try it first :p

I will flash mine once I am confident things like drivers and touch calibration are 100% working in the new ROM and that we have a working stock ROM to flash back to.

Installed Android on my Windows mobile and the touch screen was upside down, up was down, left was right, it was pretty difficult to use to say the least, dont fancy that happening with the scroll
