Yup, it works! Says "safe mode" in the bottom left corner.
Only difference I can see so far is that most of my apps have disappeared from the drawer. A quick "google" provided the answer - in safe mode no third party apps are loaded (bit like windoze). This means you can uninstall any app thats giving you boot loop problems or force closing on start.
