No plans to upgrade to Android 2.2 officially, but...

Although Storage Options (manufacturer of the Scroll Tablet) state on their website that there are no plans to upgrade the Scrolls OS to Android 2.2, it can be done. Their support staff confirmed it can be done by booting 2.2 from the mini SD card. However they won't support this and give no details on how to do this. Furthermore, they say it will invalidate the warranty. If you want to be able to do this or have done this, please share your experience below.

Do you think we might be able to update it to Android 2.3?

I think 2.3 would be something to look at once we achieve upgrading successfully to 2.2. Right now, nobody seems to have been able to upgrade to 2.2. If anyone has, please let us know how you did it. Thanks.

Yeah, probably best to see if it can even be updated to 2.2 first. I'm looking for more news on the tablet everyday, im sure that someone will have done it soon!

Storage Options have told me they're working on this and will release it soon guys:

With regard to the upgrade we don’t currently have a releasable version of the OS on the Scroll however we are in the process of building a downloads section for our Storage Options website so if you keep checking back the OS should be available soon.

So hopefully not long until we can all upgrade officially. :D

You should let them know that one of the primary reasons I've not purchased mine yet is because there is no download support section on the website. Hard to trust someone who gives you no options.

I did a search for the model number of the tablet, and came across this

Maybe it will help decipher the mystery of the hardware for future 2.2 upgrades ?

I emailed support this morning as we would consider something like this in work but they stated:
"Hi Paul, unfortunately there are no plans in the short-term. We are launching an 8” version but with 2.1. The next model after that will be with 2.3. We envisage this within the next six months."

Doesn't look like they are going to update the OS on the 7". The community may have to do the work.

Hopefully 2.3 release will be on similar hardware so there wont be too much work to port it over

Or, Sell the scroll by then and buy the new one :D
