Workaround to get to Android Marketplace on unmodded Scroll
Posted: May 1st, 2011, 7:31 pm
Good evening.
Just bought this 7" Android 2.1 tablet today which came pre-installed with the 1.02s baseband with no apparent access to the Android Marketplace.
I seem to have come up with a workaround to access the Android Marketplace. Can someone else confirm that this works for them on 1.02s?
Make sure Wi-Fi is on and connected.
Open Quick System Info.
Select the Applications tab.
Scroll down to "Browser" (Version 2.1-update 1) and press it.
Select "Search in Market"
After a short delay a screen pops up saying:
"There are no matches in Android Market for the search: pname:com.android.browser"
You're now in the Android Marketplace! Hit the magnifying glass in the top right and search for any apps and they can be installed, I searched for facebook and installed the updated app from there and it works and even shows the Twitter client there waiting for an Update.
Hope this is helpful to someone?
Regards,
