After reading various messages, and reading the pdf document from the forum contributor (Not Storage Options, who only produce the instructions in docx format !) I took the plunge last night, downloaded the firmware zip file to my laptop desktop and transferred it to the micro SD card. Then, following the instructions provided by Storage Options, cleansed the device, before loading the Update Zip file. All of this went perfectly, until working my way through the on-screen setup, it needed to access the Google servers....But no WiFi connection available of course !
Anyway, by working my way through various menu options, I was finally able to access the WiFi menu, and got set up, recovered lost apps etc.
My initial impression is that the device is working better overall, but time will tell regarding the battery issue, which is supposed to be addressed by the upgrade. Hopefully these comments will bolster confidence in anyone who wants to upgrade, but, like me read some posts which cat severe doubts about the reliability of the installation.
Anyone any idea as to what other fixes & updates are included in V 1.02 ?

There was only the battery issue and a screen calibration issue fixed apparently. A lot of my apps still run upside-down.

yeah, it certainly "fixed" the calibration of Warpedflash's screen

Anyway glad its working for people. no idea what was ging on with mine but I dont really care anyway as I have this 2.2 stuff going on lol

I'll be waiting for a nice 2.2 build then, my major gripe with the scroll so far was countless app's appearing upside down, some others don't ???
oh and winamp has stopped working now >:(

when i asked SO about the upside down issue they blamed the software authors. Christ knows how.. unless the software doesnt allow for the accelerometer.

It should orientate itself to the dekstop rotation, looks like it's reading the x/y values in reverse and it's typical of a manuf to blame a dev... If you aren't using accel in an app then you just orientate it to match the stored rotation of the desktop.

ive updated can t see much difference at the moment too be honest ive noticed the gallery folder pic has changed and ive noticed not much happens if you click in menu to set as :- it brings a message up there is no application can perform this action so im guessing that the update stops you using a pic off sd card as a wallpaper thats naff lol it daffo doesn t do nothing now but im sure it used to set the picture you have as a wallpaper so don t think thats working now

I've set my desktop to rotate at 32rpm as it saves having to worry which way up the app is!
