Have list members seen the xda-developers.com website? One of their number has looked at the code of the "official" YouTube app and has made some changes such that it runs on Android 2.1.
I have installed the apk on my build v1.02 system and it seems to work quite well. Audio and video quality is good although I think there may be a buffer size issue as playback pauses from time to time.
The link explaining things in more detail is

I have YouTube and always have. It's Flash that 2.1 is missing and surely needs.

Fair comment but I also had a YouTube app when I first bought the Scroll but this went awol around the time I applied the v1.02 "upgrade".
Now, if I look for YouTube on the market, it is listed as requiring Android 2.2; the market detects that I only have Android 2.1 and prevents me downloading the app.
Obviously, Youtube, Flash 10.1 and BBC iPlayer running on Android 2.2 on my Scroll is the ultimate objective but a working 2.1 app is quite useful for me. I guess there may be other people in my situation who may find this useful.

@gypsyroadhog
There are 2 working versions of youtube for 2.1 and lots of posts on the forum, on how to get them & install them, if you have your youtube app missing or the stock one is broken because of the PMT mod.

Charlie,
Sorry if I've caused any offence. I spent quite a lot of time on various market sites looking for an app without success. I did find one reference to a working app on this site (see the previous thread) but the link had been removed. So I was quite pleased when I found something that seemed to work!
I know it's not always easy being a moderator, best wishes, Neil

I don't think anyone is offended, or even annoyed.
