You can now install the gingerbread keyboard onto android 2.1 devices, including ours!

To install:
1. Download the file appropriate to your OS
http://www.multiupload.com/OSAKU5XX1R

2. On your computer, move it to the root (or the main folder) of your phone’s SD card.

3. Unplug your phone from your computer, enter your favorite file manager, and install the APK.

4. Then navigate to settings, then to Language and Keyboard and tick Gingerbread keyboard

5. Go to a typing program (some app that uses the keyboard) the press and hold 123 key, press imput method then gingerbread keyboard

Then your all done!

When I installed this, and activated it in keyboard / language settings, it warned me that this app may be able to send all my passwords and key presses somewhere.... Is this a generic warning or should I be concerned ?

its a generic warning, about storing words you type on your device, nothing to worry about

I have installed this and enabled it in "Language and Keyboard"

However the predictive text seemed to work when I composed an new email for about 10 words and then it has stopped working.

I have checked the options for gingerbread keyboard and have rebooted the scroll, enable / disabled the keyboard with not joy.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

cheers
