That still won't work as you need to convert from digital to analogue somewhere along the way.

A DVI connector can carry an analogue signal as well as digital:

Thanks for all the responses. As the cable is only about £5 I'll give it a go. You can configure the scroll to provide composite video output (Output Select) so maybe that's the secret.

HDMI -> VGA + USB mouse & kb would make it a mini desktop pc :)

Aforesaid mini-HDMI to VGA cable finally arrived.
Perhaps to no-ones surprise it doesn't work. I tried every combination of HDMI and composite output resolutions and settings, and not a sausage. The cable is beautifully made though, although I suspect totally useless! :cry:

Composite video output is on 4th pin of headphone jack.

In that case, a Sony camcorder lead should work. It's just trial and error as to which colour plug outputs the video and which colours are the sound!
