Corporate access

Postby idlemarvel » January 24th, 2011, 5:16 pm

Having got my scroll into a nice working state, I'm now trying to connect it to my company systems.
Immediately hit two brick walls:
1 - although android supports ssl active sync with exchange, our exchange server checks to see if your device is pin lockable, which android 2.1 isn't, so I really need 2.2!
2 - although android supports some VPN protocols it doesn't support IPSEC -this seems to be a well known issue in the android world (it's the number 2 most requested feature) and the solution seems to be wait for Cisco to release anyconnect for android (no date for that yet), or root your device and have a go with openvpn
Bummer.
If I can get VPN I can at least use OWA until we get 2.2.
Has anyone got any experience with openvpn? Or any other ideas?
Thanks

I've used OWA over our company VPN.

Not used openvpn though - we use an appliance based solution hosted by an external company for us.

Works well although you get the same "emulation" as with Firefox - ie OWA only looks like tru Outlook when running IE on the desktop.
