Just wondering what other people think about the scroll

Hi there

I bought a scroll a couple of weeks ago from eBuyer but returned it after a few annoyances with it. I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts were about this device. For the price (£139.99), i thought it was good value for money maybe for somebody new to the android OS but for me, as i had used android devices (mobiles) before and had my favourite apps that i liked such as Kindle, Doubletwist and Feedr (RSS) among others, i found these were not available on the included android market, and so slowly began to get dis-interested in it.

I am wondering if I had been a bit hasty in my decision to return it (only had 7 days to return) and should i buy another one or try another brand. I am also interested to hear what apps other users were using and what they were actually using the device for.

Regards
Jay

its certainly the best tablet for the price, especially on comparison to the disgo tablet 6000. I like its build quality and its portability!

I have doubletwist on mine, downloaded the apk file and did it that way rather than to use the market.

Download here: http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/a ... ist-player
Extract it to root of SD Card
Install apps installer on scroll, through Market place
Once install open apps install and press doubletwist

For the money I think it does just fine. I got
the kindle apk file And it runs just fine. One real downer is it won't play any of the tvcatchup streams!!! Not sure why as my wifes htc wildfire with Android 2.1 does.

@Dave - hopefully all we need is to upgrade to 2.2 or 2.3 and then we can watch streams from TVcatchUp and BBC iPlayer. Regarding the price, personally I also think it's the best device for the money.

I have a 10" Advent Vega as well as one of these and I think the price is fair. Just need a 2.2 Performance pack and full market now :-).

I personally love my scroll and it is good value for the money.

My only grips are that there is no back facing camera and that the audio is tinny even on headphones.

I like my new scroll, I keep picking it up and taping away. There are a few things I would change:
1.If I want to put a bookmark on the home screen it ignores me and doesn't work.
2.Scroll need to bring out their own screen protectors & cases to keep our tablets looking good!
3.I get the feeling they made their tablets and weren't too sure what people would do with them, I'd like paid for apps to be available for example. (Using Documents to Go for example would make my tablet even more useful for work). I know this is a Google issue agreement not to, but it seems crazy because it widens the market further.
4. The marketplace has some issues it it too- like downloading free apps sometimes works for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this annoying issue- yeah sometimes downloads hung on my old G1, but after a reset it usually worked.
5.StorageOptions needed to make their downloads section on their website available on release of their tablets, they know people want to play around with the software, particularly if it's 2.1.

I hope this doesn't sound too moany, it's not, I love the HDMI output and the larger screen works a treat for me, I love watching tv programmes too from websites not needing flash too. It's a good price too in comparison to the other options :-) If only we could get flash and the other things mentioned above we'd have a real hidden gem :-)

Thus far I like it. It does become a bit slow sometimes but what do you expect for the price? Battery life is disappointing and I'm getting fed up with the zoom button that appears on the browser screen. I. was also disappointed I couldn't get psx4droid working, guess I'll have to stick to my PSP for that. I'm looking forward to upgrading but won't attempt this until I have idiot proof instructions! I've ordered a case which incoporates a keyboard which I hope will make life a bit easier, hopefully it won't drain the battery too much. All in all it's a great gadget for the price.

Had the device for a week now. Much better than the disgo 6000 and advent amico I had before. Great value, only probs are that the android market stalls and needs a factory reset. I've given up resetting it. Also the keyboard doesn't pop in "Docs to go". Does anyone else have this problem or a solution.
