New Scroll Excel

Postby tenter » February 28th, 2012, 11:06 am

Hi, Thanks for running this forum.
I got my first Android device when I bought my Scroll Excel at the weekend, after trying several Maplin stores.

Still trying to work out what all the icons mean, but, getting there slowly. I have got Facebook setup, which insisted it installed the Android Market :o (I got the impression Android Market wasn't available on the Scroll, without jumping through all sorts of hoops).

Cases have been proving a problem. I need one that will act as a stand, as I will be lying flat on my back for several weeks. I can only seem to find one, but, comes with a keyboard. I don't really want the extra weight of having a keyboard on my chest, so, I am going to try and modify a £9 Kindle Fire case from 7dayshop. I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again

Welcome to the forum :D
Dave

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

Hello Tenter,

Nice to see you in the Forum but I am sorry to hear you will be on your back for while.
Don't know if this will help you or not, but my wife gave me her unused bedtime bookholder which I find holds my Scroll at a comfortable angle for balancing on my stomach whilst in bed. (Mind you it is a bit of a stomach. )
I don't think they are expensive, our one being made of wire and plastic - you can see a few of them here:

Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Hi Tenter and welcome
i paid £3.50 for a kindle fire case/stand they all look very similar it was too tight in the length width is ok. what i did was cut the inside stitching of the end folds with a craft knife then superglued where i had just cut through the thread this released about 2.5 mm per end and made the size 5mm longer overall perfech fit have access to the usb socket and the hdmi socket the power button is half exposed and the volume rocker is covered both work well through the faux leather just need to find my belt hole punch to make a hole for the charger(you can charge through USB)
the price has gone up but still good http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005 ... 00_details

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have been quite ill the past few weeks and unable to type, looks like they will take part off me away. I bought a kindle fire case with a magnetic roll up back which gives me 20 and 70 degree angles. I modified it pretty much in the same way as suggested by Mitre. Thanks to you all for making me welcome.

Charlie - I promise to post further questions in the correct place

Sorry to hear about Dave (fonefixer), I have seen the amazing amount of effort he put into this forum. He will be missed. RIP Dave. :(
