Hacker's Resource Playground "Introduction"

Postby Trashcooky » December 3rd, 2012, 6:09 pm

Welcome to the pages of the "Hacker's Resource Playground" where you are invited to help build up the core resources we need to keep our eager community satisfied and growing.

Please read the following before using these pages

The aim of these pages is to keep the wealth of the forum's modding resources in one place where they are easy to find and use by those who are able to make safe use of them this is not the place for absolute newbies who do not know what they are doing with the available resources and because of this, no questions or postings will be accepted here and these pages are locked - consequently contributions to these threads will be by approval only. Questions about how to use these resources should be posted as you would normally post a help topic in its appropriate section. If you are an absolute newbie keen to learn then there is a section just for you: Android_Novices

Please remember that many people have devoted their time and effort in bringing the content of these pages to you.
Kudos and thanks goes to XDA developer Christian Troy and all his colleagues some of whose material appears on this site and to Fonefixer (RIP), Suggsy89, Mitre and Charlie for all the work they have contributed over time. Not forgetting Stu who pays to keep the site online. If you would like to donate to help with forum disbursements
Donate to Stu (Admin) Click: HERE to donate any amount you wish.

If you submit material to these pages from sources other than your own work please make sure to mention the original creator as all too often they don't even get a mention for their hard work. If the work you submit for posting is technically well crafted, built and cooked and relatively bug free - by you personally - and you would like the opportunity to allow voluntary gift donations from members who use your work then PM ME and/or ADMIN and we will consider allowing you to place a PayPal link in your signature.

In order to build and maintain the forum's resources reliably and flexibly you will be asked to share your file contributions using DropBox or a similar file server account giving the link to your resource contribution along with a short description of what it is for and it will be posted in the appropriate pages. For longer descriptions about your work please make a HOW TO in the appropriate place on the forum which we can link to from here.

As a responsible forum member you are asked to undertake regular checks and maintenance to ensure that your links remain live.
We all have experienced the disappointment's of finding the right file only to discover that the link is down.
One of the aims of "Hacker's Resource Playground" is to reduce this happening in future by inviting you to help build a 'forum centralised file hosting network' so when hosting shortages occur due to one member running low on hosting space some of their files can be hosted by another member who has the available file hosting space to keep the network live.

When circumstances prevent you from maintaining your links please, please, let the Mods and/or Admin know before you remove the files to recover your server space so that they can be downloaded and re-hosted by some-one else.

If you are already limited for file hosting space, here are some sites where you can open free file serving accounts.

To get "Hackers Resource Playground" off the ground, I am initially hosting most of the posted files myself.
This takes up valuable space requiring me to maintain multiple sync folders on my PC's to manage all the Cloudspace.
I would be very grateful for use of the file server account links below by anyone - even if you don't use Cloudspace yourself - registering an account on the indicated links will increase the amount of personal Cloudspace I can use to host additional files on these pages in the future.

DropBox If you join using this link we both get extra space for forum use.
SugarSync If you join using this link we both get extra space for forum use.
Box Select free personal account - not the trial which only lasts for 14 days. (NB: 5G space but 100Mb upload filesize limit)
idrive If you join using this link we both get extra space for forum use.Basic – Free, includes 10GB of unlimited filesize Sync space
SkyDrive You will need a Windows Live account for this Cloudspace.
Note about Windows Live SkyDrive Unlike the other Cloudspace accounts listed which allow you links to individual files, Windows Live SkyDrive allows access to everything in your public account from just one link.

Most of these Cloudspace free accounts work in similar fashion but if you have not used them before then you will need to check the sizes of file uploads as many restrict the upload size when using the site upload link where-as moving files to the sync folder on your PC often allows you to upload very large files, albeit very slowly.

Lastly, if you have never used Cloudspace file servers before be very aware that if you use them to upload copyrighted material you are likely to have your Cloudspace account swiftly suspended at the very least. As a consequence, it is useful for filenames not to reflect copyrighted sources - where use of copyrighted material is desirable then links to the copyright holder's host site may be submitted as a mirror.

This thread is locked! To contribute something please send me a PM with the explanation of the data, which model it is for and the host server's link/s to the file/s and I will include it in the appropriate posts.

This is an area where we hope to collect firmware and tools to help each other mod our various tablets.
The usual warnings should be considered as not all of this material has been tested on tablets suggested it might work on.

This is not the place to play if you don't know what you are doing - if you brick your tablet experimenting with these files it is your own responsibility for which you must undertake all risk.

Having said that this is the Hackers Resource Playground so if you can contribute data, firmware, or (legal) hackers tools and utilities then please help us to makes these pages Mega useful to Forum members
