Developing apps fro Android on Scroll

Hi, I've just joined this forum because I'm looking for a cheap way to dip a toe in the murky water of Android app development.
Is the Scroll a suitable platform for this?
It's certainly cheap, as long as Maplin still have stock!

Yea, but if you download the Android SDK, you can make a virtual machine and test your apps in there before testing them on an actual device

Really? Even to the extent of generating a 20kHz sine wave at the headphone output, for example?

Well there is no headphone out on the emulator, but Im sure you could develop it to work on there to a point, and then test it on the scroll.

Well, what do you know? I finally had time to look at this gadget, and the idiots at Maplin sold me the TouchPad II instead of the Scroll(mind you, I guess I'm a bit of an idiot for not noticing at the time).
The thing that alerted me were the references to the camera on this forum. Camera? What camera!

Anyway, I may try and change it, or even return it, as it's really no use to me.
I wanted something with an external mic input(via the headphone jack - like the iThings have), that the TouchPad certainly doesn't have - does anyone know if the Scroll does?
