7" Scroll Tablet - I've bust the OS! Please help

OK, so I thought I was pretty technically competent but somehow have screwed the OS on my tablet.

What was I doing? - Following the mod'ing instructions to remove the unnecessary phone stuff and improve performance. Had just finished and was on the final boot...

Whats happening? - It endlessly cycles the "Android" wording after the Welcome screen.

What have I tried to fix it?

1. Factory reset - didn't work
2. Downloading the firmware from the storageoptions site onto a SD card and try to recover from the 2e recovery menu. I get a "signature verification failed". Instructions aren't too clear so have tried with both downloaded file (scroll-gen1.zip) and a renamed version to update.zip.
