power button trouble

I have exactly the same problem - has been getting slowly worse over the past few days. i haven't done anything software wise which could affect it. I wonder if the power button is working properly and making contact. Pushing the button several times can work but then the Excel seems to get confused and behave in a strange fashion like switching on and immediately switching off again.

Anybody any more suggestions - or does the Excel have a mechanical fault?

i have two of scroll tabs and one has the power button problem what is apparent is the two tabs have very different button "feel" on the good tab the volume and power buttons "click" when pressed but on the other tab the buttons dont have any response at all the volume seems to be ok but the power button is erratic to the point where it will bring up the power menu (CM7) and shut down! time to get the soldering iorn out!!
