Scroll basic and ebooks

Postby jeffro64 » August 21st, 2012, 7:34 pm

Hi
sorry in advance if this is posted in the wrong place
i have a scroll basic which i purchased from Maplins recently, mainly i am using it as an ebook reader with kindles software app, however despite updating it i find it buggy(doesn't save the last book read and then when i go to it ,it has lost the page),i have seen there are several other apps other than Kindle
Has anybody here used any of them and can make a recommendation or am i better of sticking with the kindle app for now?

Hi,

Give these two a try: Aldiko https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aldiko.android&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5hbGRpa28uYW5kcm9pZCJd & Moon+ Reader https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyersoft.moonreader&feature=related_apps. Only problem is that I don't think they can open .mobi files, otherwise they're both free and work well with the excel and other ebook formats.

Many thnx will give them a go ,not too worried on the format side of it as Calibre seems to do a good job of conversion :-)

Personally I prefer CoolReader as a reading app - I've used it on dedicated book-readers for a few years now and it provides a highly customisable viewer. One reason I like it is that it is the only viewer I've come across that allows footnotes to appear at the bottom of a page irrespective of font size etc, much like footnotes in a Word document. Though to achieve this you do need to have fb2 formatted books.
