Another real "rookie" question...............
Can you switch the Scroll off or power off WITHOUT using the on/off button on the case ? Is there a handy app or some advice post that I have not seen. It would be more desirable to turn it off in software than wear the bloomin switch out !

I'm sure I found a few widgets / apps that let you soft reset (Reboot) the scroll, I don't have my scroll atm so I can't check which ones they were. Not sure about completely shutting down though.

I wouldn't worry about the switch wearing out though, turning it on and off is what its designed to do ;)

EDIT - This claims to be able to do what your looking for

Hi Scope,
I wouldnt worry yourself over it, the switch should last for thousands of operations. Its interesting to note that the switch itself is held in place not just by the contact pads on the main board (those are the connections that allow the switch to do its job) but it also has an anchor pad (slightly larger) that serves no function except to hold the switch in place. Providing you dont prod it hard it should be ok.

I wish mobile manufacturers would do this (points at Nokia), ive had to change literally hundreds of I/O switches on N95's because they are only held on by the contact pads. Users find the switch plays up, they push harder each time and it eventually breaks off, sometimes resulting in the handset being deemed FUBAR/BER as the switch pulls the contact pads off the board.
