updating google maps

updating google maps

I'm having problems updating Google maps. I'm using applanet, the update downloads then I install it but says failed. Ive tried to uninstall the old one but scroll wont let me. What's going on?
Firmware 1.01, rooted, buildbase v3, phone bits name change

probably it has to use the market to update, which is not licensed on the scroll.
