jstlawson wrote:Hi everyone,

First time posting so please forgive me if I havent got the format right. Just bought a scroll 7" from Maplin and all is going really well apart from the clock. When I set the clock to the right time it accepts the command and all is fine until I power the tablet down. When I switch it back on again the clock is set to the time that I manually input the last time I used it. The tablet seems to be resetting the clock everytime I switch it on. Has anyone else has this issue and if so is there anywway that I can resolve it.

It could be firmware but as so few people have experienced it, it's possibly a hardware issue. Perhaps the clock is powered by its own backup battery when the Scroll is powered down, and maybe this is faulty? Sorry for the pessimism...

Re: Scroll clock resetting itself

I had the same problem and didn't want to modify my device with a root change. I then tried going back to my time settings in the main settings utility, changed my location to somewhere else, then back again, I'm in the UK so at the time I set London and it was showing the correct British Summer time (GMT +1), so I selected this then reset my time to be correct. After a reboot of the device it still resets the time, maybe Storage Options need to release a patch or something as this issue renders the alarm, clock and calendar functions useless. Maybe this will be yet another Tablet PC to return for a refund! I had such high hopes for this one after all the reviews.

After getting in touch with Storage Options customer services, I have discovered that there is a known problem with some clock batteries inside the tablets. Your only real option for getting this fixed, especially if it's under warranty, is to return your tablet to the retailer for a replacement, and you can only hope you don't get another faulty unit.

On a side note, if you bought it from the BT Shop Online, then good luck in getting a replacement quickly as BT (British Telecom) are totally incompetent when dealing with customers, and just add delay on delay, and give nothing but excuses when trying to find out when or if you will get a replacement. Add to that a sole customer service number which usually take close to an hour to be answered, and an e-mail system which never gets answered, I would say if you are thinking of buying a Scroll Tablet, don't buy from BT Shop. Also getting a refund is possible, but again you'll have to wait for 3-5 days for that too.
