Android 2.3.1 - Flash Player and BBC iPlayer

Postby JamJam11 » June 13th, 2011, 8:36 pm

Hi everyone,

Got my shiny new Scroll 7" Capacitive Touch tablet a couple of days ago and have gradually been configuring it with plenty of help from the threads on this forum (thanks everyone!) :)

I have Marketplace working and can download apps, though have only downloaded Free ones so far.

But I have one issue. Given I have Android 2.3.1 shouldn't I be able to install Adobe Flash Player?

I can't find it on Marketplace to download via my tablet but can find it easily on the Google Marketplace website; though can't download it from there as it says its not compatible with my device!

Ideally I would like to get this working with BBC iPlayer.

Is it possible? And can anyone offer any help?
Thanks,
John

Unfortunately the scroll does not have processor to support flash, which is why I bought a tabtech instead.

if we can get the flashplayer APK from any HTC device with the lower spec processor maybe one of the devs can look at getting it into working with the telechips processor FF cough FF

Hi Jamjam

Mine came Saturday and I am impressed with it.

Flash is a bit of a nuisance but i tend to download stuff to laptop and copy it to memory stick/microsd that I am interested in. Flash in websites would be nice.

Have you rooted the thing yet? A brief search for my username will show that I am a bit nervous about trying it without a fallback.

Regards

Rooting is always a risk but it can be mitigated by installing clockworkmod which allows you to back the whole system up to sd card. That way you can always restore if the root goes wrong. Even still I would only bother rooting for the following reasons 1. You do not have the market or cannot see paid for apps 2. You want to reduce the screen density and make the icons smaller 3. You want to delete system apps to save space 4. You want to hack around or customise android. If you don't fit into any of those 4 I wouldn't bother with rooting.

is there any chance one of the 2.3 guys could upload stock recovery images simlar to the ones here viewtopic.php?f=15&t=779&hilit=stock
it would help repair any damage later if stock images wre available to flash back onto device when things go wrong.
it has to be done before you start puting your own personal data/ apps etc to device :D

@Fonefixer thanks for the quick reply but i was after the Flash 10.3.x off of a HTC device (with arm7 processor)
as HTC botched it to work thought a dev could look at the code changes and get it on my new/old gingerebread scroll :D :D

mitre

"it has to be done before you start puting your own personal data/ apps etc to device"

would going back to factory defaults do the job?
