Fatal factory reset.

Postby Ginny » February 17th, 2011, 9:17 am

I was having problems with my new 8" scroll so I performed a reset to factory defaults.
When it rebooted the touch screen was dead. Is there anything I can do?
My first scroll was a turkey, my second a angel.

Return it is my advise.

There seems to be a lot of problems with these after updates and resets.

Did you perform the reset from inside Android, or from recovery ?

If you did it from inside android, you could try entering recovery by turning off the device and then holding Volume Up + Power on until it enters recovery, then factory reset it again from there.

Thank you Detection, I did as you said and got it back again, but things don't feel right, it is still acting very poorly.

I have arranged for it to be returned and think I will order the 7" version as people seem to find the 7" scroll to be more reliable. I will lose memory and screen size but I think I could live with that.

I agree with Detection, return it. Hoiwever, I would suggest going for another 8" model from the memory point of view.

In what way is it acting poorly? can we help?

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

It is mainly the freezing and locking up, also the net stops working, setting change on there own, formatting the sd card doesn't work and sometimes the touch screen takes ages to respond. Not much really. :D

I am now in two minds, 7 or 8 inch?

An extra inch? doesnt matter in my opinion but the extra memory space does....

In other words... brains not balls :D

I think a big issue with speed problems might be all the apps that startup with android.

Download Advanced Task Killer - and add its widget on the Home screen, press the widget once to kill everything, and enjoy fast android

Thank you Fonefixer and Detection. I think I will take your advice. I will get myself the widget and I have already ordered another 8" scroll. I hope I fare better this time.

I have my replacement 8" scroll and it is working lovely. I am so glad I changed it because it is now obvious that my first scroll was very ,very ill. :D

A big hello to all other scroll-ites. ;)
