Got my problem sorted - got a new phone - Orange San Francisco - Unlocked to T-mobile - rooted and modded with Froyo firmware which supports WiFi hotspot - Scroll sees it and hooks up without any bother - I'm now mobile at work - YIPEEEEE !!!!! - Since I'm a security guard on my lonesome all night 4 or 5 nights a week this is a big deal. Browsing the web on the Scroll with the wallet keyboard is now a treat.
ps Market still working since I hooked up this way - market probably thinks my device is the Phone - not the scroll ???.

tether does work on 2.1 i have a pulse mini runing modded 2.1 and barnacle app can tether netbook but scroll cant see it oh neither does my samsung galaxy3
