hey guys, just got my scroll today and granted its easy to use, I've got my emails set up, the touchscreen is surprisingly good and responsive and I can browse the net with ease. I just haven't got the fogiest idea about how to download apps such as youtube, facebook, games etc etc. I installed android pit but it doesn't have stuff like that on it.... Baring in mind Im not amazing with technology lol. I couldn't do that home update for some reason to get the marketplace link on the homepage (although I've had a look around and found the same problem faced by people with newer scrolls such as mine).. sooo some advice would be nice please :)

Cheers

As far as I can tell, detection's guide in the how to section is the only known way to get market access at the moment. I reckon you have to be quite techy to perform it although it will worked if followed absolutely to the letter.
The apks are around for some of the apps you need but you are right to desire the market!

yeah I just had a look at it, it seems techy but alright if I follow it step by step. does it place an android market app on my scroll or does it just enable downloading from the online market? will have to check it out properly when I get home from work tomorrow!

You could get "applanet" there are plenty of posts on here about it - does the same job as the market but better

I was impressed with My scroll 2 when it arrived and i liked the keyboard case too. But i am suffering from acute frustration The 1000's of apps which are supposed to be available are all link back the the Android market. when i try to download two apps which I wanted [ charged for] after going through the lengthy process which the Market wanted to register it refused to accept the information. Interestingly the two item it refuse were first my address in the UK was reported as incorrect and not valid. and secondly, my phone number which they say they only want in case they need to contact me was also not acceptable. After trying to several times, i eventually gave up!
To all intentional purposes it seems the open "android " system is a closed shop with all apps worth having only available through Google operated Market.
The only notable app that i managed to download via Androidpit has been a free book reader with access to a library of non copyright public domain books.
What i want is a simple "office" program so that I can use the tablet to write notes when away from home instead of lugging my laptop about.
Any suggestion for a simple minded older gent on how to get the Market working or another source of the desired paid for apps..
