5V Power Adapter Polarity Query...

Hi All

Just got myself a Scroll Tablet from Ebay, but I think I may have found out why it was placed on Ebay - I'm really struggling to charge it. The Scroll came with a power supply which consisted of a USB cable and 3-pin UK wall adapter, so this package expects you to charge fully via USB.

As I see most people know, the mini USB port is not a great connection, and it is hit or miss if it charges fully over time. Only a small adjustment stops it charging properly.

I have a multi-voltage adapter I could use to charge via the 5v power input, but what polarity should the input be? Center-Negative, or Center-Positive? (And If I get it wrong, whats the worst that could happen?!)

UPDATE - CONFIRMED - CENTER-POSITIVE

(thanks Mitre)
Official Scroll Charger is 5V===2000mA.

If you know, please post - this would be really helpful and save me a tenner on a dedicated adapter. There isn't anything else on the polarity on the forum, so it may help others too.

Thanks
Wallie

Hi Mitre

Thanks for replying. I've plugged it in, and its charging now. I've tried about four different USB>mini USB cables in connection with the USB wall charger, and only one of them seems to stay still enough to charge.

It seems lots of people on the web have problems charging with mini USB, even though the concept of it is a great idea. Think the socket is too big on the scroll and mini USB cables too loose a fit to get a stable connection.

Anyway, can confirm Centre-Positive is the way to go - thanks again Mitre!

Just getting the hang of this unit - fixed the PMT apps, changed my Android Market key via the emulator, got ClockworkMod installed... just a build.prop to look at now. And charging I can trust is icing on the cake. Thanks!

What is it with the sockets on the Scroll! As mentioned above and in other threads, the 'proper' power socket also tends to wobble and make a poor connection.
