Scroll tablet stuck in recovery mode

Postby lellis2k » May 26th, 2011, 7:46 am

Hi Guys,

I've just inherited a 7" scroll tablet but it boots to android robot with exclamation mark in a triangle...

Pressing 'home' takes me to recovery mode 2e, pressing the volume down button sometimes navigates down through the 4 options, sometimes does nothing, sometimes navigates down a few then selects a random option.

The issue I have is that no button selects an item so I cant get to "factory restore", a couple of times pressing vol down has selected factory restore. Then I get the "no,no,no,no,no,yes,no,no" menu...

Again pressing vol down cycles down randomly and selects one, sods law: I can't get it to land on/select 'yes'.

It seems to me like the buttons are broken, or surely this would be an easier task.

Tried plugging it into the PC but "telechip S android device driver was not successfully installed".

Any ideas guys?

P.S. every now and again I hit update from SD, so can I put the original firmware on an SD and use that? If so where can I d/l it?

Thanks!

Leigh

the "home" button on the bottom of the scroll is the select button, "volume" is move up and down you can also cycle backwards through the list with the "back" button at the bottom of the scroll(maybe more accurate than the vol button)
do a search for scroll img files on the forum

Turned out that the volume button was stuck on 80% of the time, hence booting into recovery mode. I disassembled it, un-bent the button connector and it works!

1. Now I need to decide whether to root it or not, I jailbreak all my iOS devices, is it the same benefits?
2. Are there any custom versions of android that run better, 2.1 on this seems pretty slow?
3. Is there an easy way to install the android marketplace? It's not showing up.

Thanks,

Leigh

Hi Leigh

1) Similar benefits.
2) Not as far as I'm aware, no.
3) There are various market fixes described on this forum with different degrees of success. The only reliable one I've found is to obtain the apk files by other means ( ie applanet) and install them.

if you have app installer open it and it should find Market buried in the scroll click on launch then sync your gmail account and use any cut to make a short cut or download lancher pro which will put Market in your tray
i used this method after having to do a complete reset after getting stuck in bootloader mode
