To root or not to root

I am taking delivery of my 2.3 scroll tablet on Saturday.

I am thinking to root or not to root.

I have searched here and found the information on rooting which I will follow if i do it. My question is, an I bck up my complete scroll 2.3 as it came from the shop on my pc or microsd or usb drive so that if it all goes pear saped I can just reload the whole thing and give me my unrooted tablet.

I would feel a lot happier if i could do this before rooting. If this i answered here I apologise, I have found the rooting stuff but not complete backup.
