Scroll 8 inch.

Ok - problem.

I did something stupid and my scroll stopped working. Actually the touch screen was no longer a touch screen.....So I turned it on by holding down the volume buttons - got into the recovery console and did a factory reset. Now it loads up the calibration screen then it forces me to the setup wizard screen. This is where it stops. I have to touch the Android to make it continue. It appears that I am hitting the android - it flashes - but that's where it ends. It will not move off that page.

Is this the end or can I somehow recover it? I have tried putting a Scroll Stock firmware on an SD card as an update file but it will not recognise.

Desperate now....

Welcome to the forum.

Any chance you could elaborate on the "did something stupid" bit please? We need to know exactly what you've done to try and undo it :D

I had rooted the Scroll. This worked fine. Then I used Rom Manager to Fix Permissions. No idea why I did this but that caused the touch screen to become inoperable. It's been all downhill since then. I tried loading from SD card usinf Update.zip with this file Stock Scroll 8 51951 CMW Backup. This just failed. I did rename the file to update.zip before I tried this.....

Any help would be appreciated...

Once the android man appears and you tap him, have you tried clicking any of the hardware buttons and see what happens?

If you are booting into recovery it should restore ok. try it with the memory card removed.

Thanks for reply. I have tried with and without sd card and still no joy. Android turns white when you tap him but screen stays.

None of the buttons make any difference.

Can't you click the soft home button on the top left of the screen when it tells you to touch the android ?

It lets me hit the Home button but nothing happens. If I hold down the Home button it will eventually tell me that no recent applications are running...

Really at a bit of a loss now. There seems no solution online that I can gauge. I have tried Storage Options for a solution but they just don't even respond to emails....

Hi,
I had this same issue but discovered that there is a method to bypass this setup.
Just tap in each corner of the screen starting in the upper left corner and moving round in a clockwise direction.
There is a YouTube video showing this but I can't link to it at the moment.

Hope this works for you.

@TheFlyingPig - Genius. I have done that and it's worked. To be fair I am not sure how I managed it. I just played about until it worked. Tapping all 4 corners and then hitting the Home icon on the top left has worked.

Thanks for the info. Will have a play round with it now to see if its all ok but it's looking more hopeful.

I can confim that this works on the 7" tablet too. It appears that the screen calibration app is still active 'underneath' the setup wizard. When I pressed HOME and BACK together I got a sort of task manager window showing screen calibration.

V. dodgy coding, but at least there is a way round it.
