Would this charger work?

Hi

I have a plug charger with a detachable USB lead , this charger plug has the following spec :

Input 100 - 240v AC 100mA 50/60Hz

Output: 5.0v DC 650mA (max)

If I used the USB lead from the scroll and plugged this into this charger - would it work or kill the Scroll?

Should work, I was using my HTC charger on the scroll which was the same specs as that one, except was higher output @ 1A

Agreed, should be ok. A USB port will charge a scroll, albeit slowly and they are rated at 500mA. I think the standard scroll charger is rated at 1000mA (1A)

I am finding that is the case as I only have the option at the moment of charging via USB and it is taking ages and then barely giving me any battery from the charge.

Looking at getting a multi volt adapter plug if these can be used to charge the unit.

The Scroll may have a current limiter connected to the usb port, in fact it probably has so it doesnt draw too much current from a normal usb connection.

I cant get a circuit diagram of the scroll to study it. Perhaps if I saw a stripped-down one and traced the circuitry it would help. Personally, I would use a universal charger with the correct pin configuration to charge it via the normal pin connector.

Does it have to be a "charger" or just a multi adapter plug with the right volts etc ?

It can be a multi-volts adapter but please use a half-decent one. The cheapo ones tend to have bad regulators in them which can cause bad things to happen

Okay - well I think I need to get it working before I buy one but I may get one for general purpose anyway and looking to purchase from maplins as they tend to sell good makes (and dear to )

I know its 15 quid, but it has a switched-mode power supply (tends to be better regulated)
