MicroSD question - could be bad news for me :(

Hi
So to see if I have damaged the microSD port in the Scroll , I got a 4gb SDHC microSD card, put this in the Scroll nothing, I got it to click into the slot but had to push in so that it flushed to the case level (if that makes sense).
So I put the MicroSD into a SD card adapter and put this in a new laptop , that read it so I formatted it to FAT32 default allocation size - copied a file to it, put it back in the Scroll nothing, so either the card is not compatible or the Scroll MicroSD card is now broken since I tried to remove the other one.

If it actually clicked then the slot itself cant be far out of line. However, if there is leftover crap in there it may be fouling the connection pins. Either that or the guide itself has shifted (more likely) Heres what I would do to test it, but you do this AT YOUR OWN RISK!
1) Insert the card into the slot until it clicks.
2) Reboot your scroll and see if it says "preparing sd card" in the top left corner
3) If yes, done, if no proceed to step 4
4) Use a thin but stiff object (pointed nail file, guitar plectrum etc) and insert it under / over the card a little to push it up / down. try each way and reboot scroll to see if it "sees" the card.
5) If it does, you need to CAREFULLY realign the guide up or down in order for it to connect. Bear in mind that some of the old card may be preventing it from moving / connecting.
If all else fails you should strip it down and remove the offending crap, the realign the card guide.

Well it looks bad for this unit - it now gets stuck on the welcome screen, this happened before, I did get around it by going into maintenance mode and did a factory reset but if it keeps happening like this I do not think it will last long
Typical only had it three days now and I have already broken it !!!
Going to take it apart tonight to see if I can clear out the remains of the other MicroSD card
Not been a good experience for my first tablet!! still at least I only paid £80 for it.
Wish me luck!!!

Read the thread I pointed out to you about disassembly, and take your time. If in doubt, shout!

Yes thanks I am using that as the guide when I do this, trying to locate those clips under the antenna cover first and then I am think my main concern is detaching the plastic from the aluminum casing as I feel I will scratch the screen or mark the camera

Hi phonefixer
On reading the guide on how to take the scroll apart , you mention that there are two screws underneath the antenna cover, however on mine there are none. There are the two at the bottom of the scroll near the two usb ports but not as mentioned. Does this mean to undo this Scroll requires a different route to undo it?

There are no screws under the cover at all?

None just a plastic section which I think covers the antenna section. As this is the case , I tried to separate the plastics from the aluminum case but it does not give and I do not want to break it anymore. See attachment .

I have not gone any further with this and after my butchering of the microSD card slot I do not want to damage this any more. I am almost tempted (although it will mean I have wasted £80) to get another unit
