Hi
Please Help !! I got a Scroll Tablet 8" as an Xmas Present. I thought i would be ok with it as i have used Android on my last phone. However this thing has got me ready to scream ..Loudly!!.

I set up my Wi-Fi and it seems to be working fine .. I have inserted an SD card.. But when trying to find apps i went to android market and thats where it's just not happening..

Also from what i can gather the "" helpful sales assistant"" kind of half heartly did some settings and i,m unsure if they are correct..

So can we please go back to basics and advise me where and what i should be doing ..

Thank you and cheers for your patience ..
Jill

Hi Jill,

There are "fixes" for a non-working market available on here, some of which are quite technical.

As a rule though, due to license restrictions the android market does not work on Scroll devices. We had lengthy discussions when the original scroll was released regarding this, even getting SO involved. No official fix has ever been released though. I read somewhere (cant find the relevant article atm) that the issue has something to do with the fact that scroll devices do not have a working telecomms section (ie they are unable to make/receive calls) and for that reason Google (read as Gestapo) refused to license the market on any scrolls.

There are plenty of other ways you can load apps onto your scroll, google for "alternative android market" and study the results. You'll see things like SlideME. Also if you have another licensed device such as an android phone you can copy the .apk (setup) file onto your scroll and install the program you need.
