If no Google Play - then where?

Hi all,
Just got my Scroll Extreme at work, and am looking forward to getting it home. As others, I have read about lack of access to Android Market (now Google Play) and that, via various means devious or not - maybe you can, maybe you can't get apps from there.
But looking at the alternate recommended sites (Handango, Freewarelovers, Opera and from somewhere else, SlideMe) the apps I want aren't listed, to name a few: BBC iPlayer, Ocado, Amazon, Autotrader, Dominos, Premier Inn, Cineworld, etc.
If they aren't available on the alternate sites - where the hell am I supposed to get them from, without turning into some sort of hacker?
Getting an Extreme to use an nothing more that a glorified email tool is a little disappointing, and makes me start wondering about 'fit for use'!

Unfortunately if Google has not granted a device a licence, then you only have a few options, if you can not get the app you want from a 3rd party app site:
1. Hack the device.
2. Buy a licensed device.
3. Sideload from a licensed Android device.
4. Try to find them on forums or through search engines.

Thanks for the feedback - although 3 of the 4 turn me into a hacker and the fourth tells me to stick with the Big A.
I guess what grieves me most is the suggestion to use the other markets, which is fine until you look and can't find the apps you want, which makes the suggestion worthless. The implication on the Storage Options site is that the apps you want are duplicated there - they're not!

Only #1 in my suggestions is hacking (so to speak) the rest are not. Have you followed the 'How to' that a member posted this morning on how to get Play Store on the Extreme? - it's just hidden in the setting, it won't help get all the apps you are wanting, but it's a start.

Just posted this on the Extreme forum, so apologies for the repost...
After having my rant on the futileness of the alternate markets (to Google Play - i.e. they don't have anything 'mainstream' on them), things got better....
"After having got home I hooked up the Extreme to the WiFi, no problem at all. Had a play around the system, ran FaceBook (I know...) and the top 'post' was info that a newer app was available. Clicked the link and it took me right into Google Play. Having read (somewhere - they all blur after a while) that if you don't already have an Android device it won't let you 'Play', I used my sons login (who has an HTC phone).
It allowed me to update FB, plus download most apps I wanted. The main ones it wouldn't were things like the various players (BBC, ITC, etc), but I sorted out runing those in the Browser later in the evening (tip I picked up for iPlayer: in Browser tap squares in top right, tap Request Desktop Version).
So all in all, not as bad (from the getting hold of apps aspect) that I had feared!"
- But I can't imagine someone like, for example - my wife, or anyone not technically able being able to do #3 and #4, or at the least having the confidence to do it, compared to using and installing from iTunes! Guess I've been spoilt with my iPod Touch!

Think of it as a learning curve I.e.
I have a storageoptions device,
I now know they don't support it and it hardly has any real access to any thing,
next time I know to get a licensed device or an IPAD (see what I have been driven too,,,, AN IPAD!!)
It can do stuff, just not as much as others,

I think if you are looking to compare this device to an Ipad then you are looking at a Ford Focus against an Aston Martin. The comparison is unfair and the fault is not with the device. There is about a £300 difference between the devices and to think the Scroll can match it is unrealistic. The Scroll can do a decent job for certain things but if you want an all singing and dancing device then you need to spend £350+ on a Samsung, Ipad etc. Mine is great for what I need but that is where you need to do your research before you buy.

I was a little worried after so many people complaining about the lack of apps, but so far I've managed to get it doing everything I intended and more!
After having used a Blackberry phone for the last 2 years, the amount of apps that work on the Scroll is quite a treat!
