It might be user error, but I got everything working with Google Play and downloaded BBC iPlayer and it reports that "my phone is not supported".

I have found out that I can access iPlayer via the browser if I switch on "Request Desktop Page".

Is this the only way, or should the app work?

Depends if your phone is compatible or not what is it?

Sorry,may have posted in the wrong place., but I'm using a Scroll Extreme tablet running ics.

Go to the browser settings, change the settings in Debug until you find one that works. Desktop worked for me.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear. It is working via browser. Was wondering if there is a way to get the app to work

Not that I'm aware of. You'd probably need to edit the build.prop but I wouldn't know how
