Scroll Extreme Screen Problem

Postby darkcyde » April 12th, 2012, 9:53 am

Hi...before I start, I did try to search for help on my problem with "screen calibration" for example, but the search engine said I was using too common words! I find that a bit strange, so guess there is a problem with it at the moment?

Anyway, I received my new Extreme tablet this morning, charged it up and then booted it up. First problem I noticed when trying to unlock the device in landscape, I couldn't drag the unlock circle to the padlock....it kept bouncing back. It would go over to the camera shortcut fine. So I tried it in portrait, no problem.

So I tried moving widgets around the homescreen, all fine except for that particular area. The device was still cold from the delivery van, so left it to warm up a bit but the problem still presists.

I can press widgets and activate them in that area, but dragging just drops whatever it is your trying to move whenever you pass over that area of the screen.

Is there a calibration option that I'm, not seeing or does my tablet have a major problem??

It should work from the start. If it's isolated to one area of the screen, it's very likely faulty and should be returned.

I couldn't find any calibration software on mine, but it worked fine to start with.

Yeah, I've spoken to the manufacturers and they said it'll need returning, and they gave me their returns email address with a form to complete. Did that, and received an email a little while later saying they've none in stock to supply as a replacement so I'll need to go back to eBuyer.

Done that now, and their courier is collecting between 9 and 7 tomorrow and their RMA turnaround is 3 to 5 working days from when they get it back. I'm hoping their returns courier is next day, which will be Monday now, and not a slow round the world trip. Hoping to get my replacement next week sometime, otherwise I'm not going be very happy....it's a birthday present for me afterall!

Fingers crossed!

How did you find the speed of yours? I did a little web browsing with it over my wi-fi and broadband (30mbit connection) and it seemed a little sluggish....I'm assuming the unit had other faults, because it seemed too sluggish.

I hope you don't mind if I join in here. I find the web browsing pretty quick, better than my 4yr old laptop anyway. I've used my tablet at home and abroad and whether it has been my home wi-fi or open access ones I have found the speed more than acceptable. I tend to browse bbc sport and news sites as a guide, I don't know if they are meant to be quick or slow sites. My brother in law has an ipad and that is no quicker than my Scroll Excell for browsing those two sites anyway.

Interesting to hear what you said about the stock situation. I have just sent my device off today, dust under the screen, and that was not mentioned. Either they have one earmarked for me or I am just going to have to wait.

I found the speed fine for the few sites I tried, the only one that caused a problem for me was Newgrounds where it would freeze for a few seconds once the page had loaded. Possibly due to loading Flash (which worked fine too on that site too).
This was just with the stock browser though, there are other browsers to try yet.

Not sure if the returns delivery will be next day, but I would assume it will be since they should provide whatever delivery option your original order had.
The courier collected my Extreme last Thursday, as of right now, it still hasn't been looked at with Ebuyer (mainly because of the bank holiday weekend).

Any news on your return yet? eBuyer received mine back yesterday (confirmed on website) but still nothing to say they have looked at it yet.
