Scroll Excel HDMI Delay (Sound out of sync)

Hi,

When I am trying to watch a film on my tv through HDMI using my scroll excel I am having problems. The audio is at least 1 - 2 seconds out of sync with the video. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they could give me some advice on the best way to solve this issue.

Many Thanks
Jamie

Hi jaymeh,
I know there is a problem with lipsync when streaming video from the web to the Scroll but I had not heard of this same problem when feeding data to your TV via HDMI.
I do know that problems can occur dependant on the severity of the compression settings when the original (DVD) films are ripped ?

Unfortunately, unless films are ripped to a reasonable quality without too much compression, although they may still play perfectly OK on your desktop PC you may have problems on your Tablet.
Have you tried other films and are the results always the same?
Also, are you playing these from the external SD card or streaming from the internet. If you are doing the latter then this is an inherent problem with the Excel that no-one has solved yet.

I thought I read earlier the ICS fixes the lip-sync? I am a newbie so that may be wrong?

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply regarding my problem. I have tried it with a few different videos and some seem to work better than others. I will review some of the compression settings when ripping DVD's to see if I can manage to sort it.

Thanks for all your help
Jamie

Does the HDMI out simply mirror the screen onto the TV?

If so, try changing your video player (as it'll be your tab thats the issue). On my Samsung Galaxy SII I use Dice Player (Ad version is free and ads DO NOT interrupt video playback). Its much much better than standard video player, plays all sorts of file types too.

Saying that ^^ I upgraded my Astro (Excel) to ICS and I can't access Dice player on the App market now, I need to do the workaround. if you have the previous OS installed you can as I did have it yesterday :)

Might be worth a go?

As an alternative media player setup on ICS you could try MX Video Player, MX Player Codec (ARMv7) and aVia Media Player.

According to many posts on this forum about ICS you are right, but as jaymeh didn't say he had changed his Excel from stock I assumed he was still on GB which does still have this type of lip-sync problem.
