On my Extreme apps seem to disappear from time to time with no real reason.

Some have been installed from the "pre-loaded" bunch supplied with the device (e.g. Kindle Reader and Adobe Reader), others such as World Factbook and London Tube map are free and been downloaded from the market.

The shortcut remains but when pressed it complains that the app isn't there and when you check the apps list, sure enough it isn't.

Has anyone else hit this problem - Storage Options Tech Support say they haven't heard of it.

I don't suppose this is at all related but I had a very similar experience with the Excel following a session of having it connected to my PC with USB file transfer on. When I disconnected from the PC the Excel would tell me that ES File Explorer was not installed (and it was). The only way I could get round this was to reboot the tablet which was annoying but not unbearable and everything worked OK after a reboot.

Does this work for you on the Extreme?

That's funny I had the same issue on my ICS.Excel the other day.
First I noticed Cordy, a game I paid for, went missing. I then noticed another app went too.
I reinstalled Cordy and rebooted.
It disappeared again.
Reinstalled, and so far it's still there along with the other homesick app that went walkabout.
Very odd.

me too one of the kids complained that ther game was "app not installed"
one app is all i have lost so far but something is afoot??

I was wondering that too mate.
I had to reinstall Cordy (game) twice before it stayed put.
I know Google can remove rogue apps. But these aren't rogue apps. So it is a mystery.

I have been having other trouble as well just recently on the Excel - easy installer tells me there is an update but if I use it it crashes easy installer and Google services reports it has stopped. If I uninstall the easyinstaller update everything works again OK.

Weird.
I haven't used Easy Installer in ages, so I can't think of a reason for that one.
If I do sideload, I either just dump the apk on my sd card and select it directly using ES file explorer, and install it that way. Or download and install using Foldersync from my dropbox or sugarsync.
