Which rom to use please??

Hi guys,

(I have moved this here as I think I put it in the wrong section)

I have made a backup with clockwork and would like to get Gingerbread on my partner's Scroll (was mine up until a few days ago). I have searched and found the list of roms but am a bit unsure of which one I need.

I believe I want Cyanogen 7 because the Scroll is 51624 but I don't know what the 4k or 8k means, and what the TCC8902 is and I'm scared I will be using the wrong file. It is 1.00 firmware and is the 7" resistive one. It is kernel 2.6.29 and is running 2.1 at the moment. It says S1008 in the information on it.

The reason for wanting the update urgently is so we can speak with Skype because I will be working abroad for a few days and also because there is no working market on it.

Please could you confirm if I am looking at the correct file for my model? It would be much appreciated because I don't have loads of time to get it done.

Thanks very much

Nats

Hiya,

I did a lot of searching and have managed to use Clockwork recovery to update to Cyanogen7 and also install the zip file for the market. However, it is stuck on the Scroll storage options screen.

I can boot into clockwork recovery and have done a factory reset from there but it still gets stuck on this screen.

Could anyone help please?

Thanks very much,

Nats

Ok, I have successfully updated my Scroll (it obviously is a 4k and I didn't know that or what it meant!)

The only thing is that the calibration is way off even though I did the calibration. I didn't reboot it though and realise that may be the problem but I can't find a way to recalibrate it properly as it responds to the centre circle but then doesn't respond to the upper left circle when I try to recalibrate it.

Please could someone help me with what I need to do, it would be much appreciated!

Hi Nats seems you have been helping yourself ;)
good way to learn you have to do two wipes dalvik cach and factory reset (do these in clockworkmod) then when you reboot use the calibration app be verry carefull when doing calibration app

Thanks guys,

Lol, yes I got there eventually! I actually managed to sort out the calibration by reinstalling the rom again, not sure why it suddenly worked!

Yes, it looks like Skype isn't going to work (no, the camera doesn't work either but don't know if it should do on this model)

Ah well, at least there is now a working market! Lol! The screen is much more responsive too by the seems of it.

My other half has taken it home now so I haven't really used it much but it looks good, so much better.

If the push updates are enabled, will it be kept pretty much up to date or will I need to update some things manually?

Thanks for your help,

Nats

it should update auto but some apps will prompt you to update manually the CM7 rom by fun is great if video is not that important you can always keep a restore of 2.1 on clockworkmod and a restore of CM7 and just flash back and forth only takes 2 mins if you really want video at some point

Thanks Mitre,

Oh ok that sounds great, is the 2.1 restore link around on the forum somewhere or is that what I backed up? Sorry if that's a really silly question, I've worn my brain out today lol!

its what you backed up when you go into recovery choose the restore option and it will show you all the backups you have made. its a date end time you can rename these backups to something memorable as when you get a few its confusing what one is what but you cant have any spaces in the file name so you could name it something like
2.1-best
or
2.1_best
cm7_anything
use a minus or underscore to seperate the words
