Dark or Dim Screen

I have been pleased with my Extreme Tab, running Honeycomb, and it does what I want. Yesterday the screen went really dim! The brightness control, either from the widget or the settings menu have no effect. The battery is fully charged, but when I plug in the charger the screen brightens a little. I have tried a power down and repower and I have rebooted with the rear panel reset, all have no effect. Do I have a faulty device or am I being dim and missed something??

Not realy a subject I know a lot about but it may be that the backlight or the inverter have developed a fault or even completely given up the ghost.
Without being too brutal, does a slight tap on the screen achieve any reaction ?
If it does it may be a poor connection as Box tablets are renowned for poor soldering during the manufacturing process.
It's realy your choice to choose to send it back or not, but this doesn't sound at all good for a new tablet.
