Short-circuited extreme

Hi all,

So I recently received a scroll extreme as a gift but without the original charger. I got a switch mode adapter in its place. Unfortunately i think i mixed up the polarity connection for the tip and now my scroll extreme wont power up. I only had it for 3 days and its my first tab.

Does anyone know if changing the battery might fix it or any ideas as to how to get it working again?

Thanks in advance

On the Scroll Engage, I have the option of charging from USB using the data cable. Do you have this option / have you tried this option? USB charging is slower than using the pukka charger.

Hi John,

Yeah i tried connecting to my computer using the data cable. Nothing happened, and the computer did not register any device connected. The battery was about half full when it went dead :(

When you connect the charger and briefly press the on/off button do you get an image of a battery being charged ? If you do then your device isn't totally fried. I'm surprised that the Extreme doesn't have reverse voltage protection on it's charging input, however if it doesn't then it's possible you now have an expensive ornament (not even heavy enough for a doorstop).

I assume you have tried the paper-clip reset, always a good thing to try when all else fails.

I wouldn't be surprised that the PC doesn't see the device on USB - it isn't just a flash drive but needs the OS to boot before exposing the file system over USB.
