Hi
I really am sorry if the answer to my question is plastered all over this forum but I really am completely unaware of what the answer might look like.

My question is this.

Is it possible to update the operating system of a Scroll special edition 8" tablet please?
The latest Android OS (Ice cream sandwich) would be preferable if possible.

I would like to thank you guys in advance.

Dennis.

Hi Dennis, your Special Edition 8"Scroll uses an ARM710a CPU with TCC890x graphics chip both from Telechips.
I am not aware of any threads on the forum which address your request to upgrade from gingerbread 2.3 although I am sure it can be done with the correct know-how. Unfortunately, and with the very greatest of respect to you, your question sort of answers itself as if you don't know the answer then you probably shouldn't be considering doing it in the first place.

There is a thread on XDA which suggests will work on a Scroll 8" for 2.3.7 which will undoubtedly be a slight upgrade on what you have but there are risks and you will need to do lots of reading to see if they have also cooked an ICS rom for the Scroll 8" : http://androtab.info/cyanogenmod/telechips/

Thank you very much for the information. The tablet moves so slowly it kinda ain't worth having. Still, onwards and upwards.

Dennis.

The good news is they are getting better, faster and cheaper every day - the Scroll Excel II is a reasonable buy and most people seem to be happy with it. http://www.storageoptions.com/products/ ... l-excel-ii

I would go for the Sumvision Cyclone Voyager 7" it's £10 cheaper and better than the Excel II or for ~£120 you could get the Evoke 7"
