App installer not working

Postby Panrider » January 23rd, 2011, 9:00 am

Hi

I was playing around with App installer and changed the scan directory to \cache (I think).

Now when I start it I get the message "The application App installer (process.com.hiapk.installer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and a Force Close button.

Does anyone know how to get round this? Does App Installer store its settings in a file somewhere?

Thanks

Mark

does it crash straight away? if not can you change the scan folder? I dont have my scroll to hand to check but i wonder if there's a "reset defaults" action you can do somewhere in the app manager on it. Might reset the directory

Oops, maybe its time to restore to defaults. or from a backup if you have cwm installed.

Or, maybe, if someone can get the relevant apk file off their scroll and send it to you, perhaps you could reinstall it? Not sure what else to do.

Not sure the apk file would fix it if the settings are held elsewhere.

I tried restoring from my clockworkmod backups last night and got checksum errors. I also noticed the backup dates say 2009! Something's gone awry at some point.

Learning a new OS is fun aint it? :)

There's a post on here somwhere by Warpedflash about this. The archive names are all up the creek but if you rename them in any way the md5 hash becomes incorrect and the backup wont work.

Android seems a bit quirky to me. I'm used to windows, never used a mac, and played with ubuntu once but diddnt like it. Having said that I learn new stuff every day.....

Ah right. Though I must have screwed my clock up somehow. I've not renamed them so I don't know why the error occur.

No great problem if I have to do a factory reset. Doing it all second time round should be quicker and good experience.

I do miss being able do do right-click/properties and suchlike in Android.

Well the restore complete ok but the app installer still fails.

Still get MD5 checksum errors on the earlier backup.
