Battery Life

Hi all,

I'm new here so please be gentle with me.

I had a Scroll but had to send it back as it went wrong.

Got a replacement, however the battery on this one seems to be not lasting at all.

As soon as I plug it into the mains, it says "Charged" when it clearly isn't and the battery indicator just decreased very quickly.

Is there a way of resetting the battery or the software/hardware back to its default factory reset?

I will try and leave it charging for a long time tonight and see if this makes any difference.

Any help would be much appreciated, and looking forward to meeting you all :)

Have a look around the forum, you may have the 5% battery issue - there are some guides, and new updates on storage options website

i got a more accurate battery reading after shutting down my scroll and using the mains charger overnight.
this doesn't work all the time though, regularly i take it off charge and it will suddenly drop to 85%, then again, in some odd times its jumped from 10% to 50% to 80% in a matter of seconds...
i think its possibly a coding error in the way it estimates percentage of charge based on current battery condition?
i could be wrong here but if we don't explore and ask we never get answers!

Hi and welcome.
The battery issue is well known on this forum. Just read through the battery related posts, but if you follow the instructions on the forums you can easily double your battery life.
There are 2 basic ways
1 root your scroll and then using a root explorer rename some system apk's
2 use the airplane mode wifi app from the market ( if you can get to the bloody market) no need for rooting.
Keep reading through the posts out will find the answers you need......

in all these types of batteries you need to discharge fully 3 - 5 times at least and the same as to recharge fully after the discharges to get the max from the battery when you first get it. then it will charge proper say when you charge it from 50% to 100%. it states in the manual 16 hrs charge for full recharge capacity.

3 400 (capacity) / 212(charge rate) mAh = 16.0377358 hrs if my maths is right?

on the mains charger it states output 2000mA 5v 0.3 amps max

Hi all,

Ok just to give you an update.

Just did the latest 2.1 update from the Scroll website and it seems to be charging a lot better than it did.

I will try it out tonight after its first proper charge on 2.1 and let you all know the results.

Thank you all for your help so far it really is appreciated.

what i was wondering and just thinking about the scroll is when you power down with the charger plugged in and switched on is it charging? when you power down without the charger plugged in and then plug charger in it switches on auto and it boots up, what i am thinking is it only charges when the scroll is on? :o

It's similar to a phone in that respect Brian, both of my phones switch on when I plug their respective chargers in (And sit at charging screens) although if I then switch them off they continue to charge.

most of my devices show a notification of charging when the device is powered off thats what made me wonder that would be a nice touch for the scroll something like charge in progress splash screen for a few seconds :D
