Hi all

Not sure if this has been dealt with before as I'm new to Forums & not entirely sure how it works.
Right then I've just got my wife a Scroll Tablet. I've followed the set up instructions as in the manual.
I've created a Gmail email account for her which is her first ever email account.
I've also downloaded eurosport app, Sky news & BBC news, Facebook & Kindle apps.
Now here is the fun part. Now whenever she or I try to download any apps, all free, ranging from wordsearch to education & games, it says that the item will be downloaded & the little download arrow comes on in the top left corner for about a second or two & that's it. It now never actually downloads any apps & I cannot figure out why.
I've rebooted the device, cleared the cache & to be honest am close to hitting it with a very large hammer, can anyone tell me in fairly simple idiot terms what I'm doing wrong or how I can rectify the situation.
I would like to put some music & pictures on it also but shall refrain from doing so in case I have to restore to factory settings, if this can be done.

This is a known problem, which Storage Options will *not* fix.

Please be patient, we are close to having Android 2.2 for the Scroll on this forum, which should fix the issue.

Thank you, I thought it was something I'd failed to do.
I shall patiently await the update but in the meantime is there a back door or long winded route I can take to add a couple of apps to it. My wife really likes word games so is there any other way to download apps or transfer them from my laptop somehow.

The problem appears to be caused by Storage Options not having a licence for Google Apps. There is a comment to that effect in the handbook, but you don't realise the significance of it until you experience no download. The alternatives are the three sites mentioned in the handbook (AndroidPit, SlideME, AndroidGear.com) plus numerous others which you can find by browsing. Hope this helps: From a fellow sufferer !

i have been very lucky with my scroll having it over a week now i have used appbrain >> http://www.appbrain.com/ to download all my apps 50+ all of them came from market with not one problem (only update for google maps) the apk files i get from PocketGear.com >> http://www.pocketgear.com/uk,en,gbp/270 ... ation.html

Not sure quite why, but if I select the Google Quick Search Box on the desktop, it brings up a list of items I have searched for in the past, one of which is 'Market application'. Selecting this brings up the Market, no apps visible but the search option works fine.

I tried Appbrain and it simply redirects you to the market, and the download fails again, as per usual.

What firmware are you on?

android 2.1 update 1
linux Kernel: 2.6.29
Firmware: v1.01
Baseband version v1.01

Ok seems most people have trouble downloading from the market. As I am new to this sort of thing can someone tell me if I cannot download apps from market how else can I download apps, after all if I cannot download apps what is the point of the tablet. I might as well take it back because it is not fit for purpose.
