Prospective Scroll Owner ...

Postby PaulM » January 28th, 2011, 3:15 pm

I am thinking of buying a Scroll and have been looking around the forum which appears to be full of much info. Can the wise amongst you advise me

a) do I wait for the 8inch or get a 7in one?
b) I do not pretend to understand all that is written but this android market stuff seems to be a big turn-off - should I be concerned? Is there any easy workaround?
b) I want to buy into a version of Docs to Go - is this problem given the above.
c) Other apps I want would be gmail, access to google docs, google maps, and google fusion tables. Any problems here?

Any advice or pointers you could give me would be much appreciated.

Cheers Paul

I wondered the same thing - 7" or 8" and decided that the 7" was a better size for general portability.

Docs to go runs fine on mine and the Market should soon be fixed with the imminent 2.2 Andriod release from this forum.

It does look like the actual size of the 8" scroll is the same size as the 7" - The screen is bigger but the scroll its self, the dimensions of the case are not any bigger. (the size info, could be wrong on Dabs)

Ah. I didn't have the physical dimensions when I made my choice - just made an assumption.

If the physical size were the same I'd go for an 8" screen.

I think it depends what your timelines and budget are. The scroll is not bad at all for the price but it is by no means perfect. I personally think the tablet market is about to explode, the surface has only just been scratched. The scroll for me is a stop gap until the technology is perfected. When you pay 140 quid for a device it then seems much more viable to buy a better tablet in a years time.
