.epub files and Kobo Reader

I am trying to import some .epub files that reside on an SDCARd in a folder called books into Kobo reader. These work fine in FBReader however it is bugging me as Kobo does not see them. All of the sources I have found say that Kobo supports the .epub format.

In Kobo if I select "import content" it states that is going to search the memory card for content however it always comes back with "found 0 files" and I cannot find a force directory option.

Using "ES File Explorer" I have located my Koko books in nand/kobo/epubs and there are folders for each book. in these folders there are multiple files including a folder called OEBPS which seems to be the "Open eBook standard" (After a google)

I have tried to used "Calibre - E-book management" to convert the files to OEBPS however this is not listed.

Has anyone managed to open .epubs directly into Kobo or know what format I need to convert to using Calibre?

Thanks

I read on my tablet and also on my PC. I mark my place with a word and so need a reader with a search function.

Hi

Unfortunately you cannot simply copy the books into one folder as each book consists of multiple files an folders (Picture XML data ETC)

Thanks for the sugestion of Laputia Reader I will give it a go.

Put one book in the base folder and see if it shows up.

tbh I'd prolly only have book on at a time, the one I'm currently reading, but in the case of a series it'd be nice to have them all on and ready.

i got this to work flawlessly by forcing stop on kobo, then setting the default directory in the settings of kobo of where to search the SD card. i only tested this with one EPUB, but it worked fine.

Hi Kamikaze-X

I am a little confused ;-)

How do I access the settings to change the directory? I cannot see them in the app and I have killed the proccess for Kobo but have no idea where to look.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Cheers

sorry mate, should have made that clear. if you go to i'm reading, press the menu key and choose 'import'. a scan should show up anything epub on the device, sd or nand.

if it doesnt, close, force stop kobo, then unmount and mount the SDcard and re do it.

thats what worked for me.

Hi Kamikaze-X

Thanks for the tip however that is what I was doing originally and no books are found that are stored on my SD Card.

I have had another play tonight and I have found that if I move the books from my SD Card to the 'Books' folder on the Scroll device then Kobo finds them.

Also Laputa reader has the same problem.

Looks like the workaround is to copy the files into 'Books' on the scroll.

Did you have them in separate folders in books on the Scroll then?
