[Solved] Market DEATH.

Postby volnutt » February 16th, 2011, 11:46 pm

So I was going on the market after a LOOONG time, right? (Two weeks.)

I was going to download the Norton Mobile Security app. DOwnload failed. "No big deal."
Started another app download. Download failed.

Now I KNEW something was up. It has to be that PMT mod. Sh*t started to break down in my 1st Gen Scroll before I could get to it.

I'm so glad I stopped myself from peforming another PMT on a different 1st Gen Scroll. I need answers on how to fix this before doing surgery on another one.

Also, I made a CyanoBackup AFTER I PMT'd. So restore is a no-no.

Halp?

I should also note that after PMT, unmounting the SD card will FAIL.

The crap that goes down when I try to dl some stuff from the market:
1. Confirm download.
2. "Download" begins.
3. clicked on "My Apps" tab.
4. "Downloading" is being shown for tha app. Ticker tape bar, no progress bar.
5. "Download Failed" is displayed for a brief moment before the job disappears without a trace.

/rant
Yea, I'm faulked, huh? Shoddy support from the SlateDroid forums, the first gen scroll I have from DealExtreme is unknown to the world, the new model comes out weeks later FAULKING 30$ CHEAPER WITH AN ENTIRE FORUM FOR FAULKING SUPPORT. I mean, the only one on that forum WHO KNOWS what tablet I have is Detection who made an account JUST to tell me that.

"u mad?"
"MAD?!? I'M FREAKING FURIOUS."
The only person on this forum with a first gen Scroll from DX... I think. No HDMI. No Mini-USB's, and worst of all. Ripped by 30$ and a new device release a few weeks later. Shoot me.

CWM?

ADB? I heard of this somewhere...

How do I run those commands in the emulator?
And how would I "push" it to my Scroll?
BTW: PC won't reconize the Scroll as a sandbox for app inventor and it will be "unknown device" as a "Android Eclair."

I am a total newb at this.

And thanks. Your reply was engough to stop my err... Rage quit. From life.

EDIT: Err... So I found this exe in the platform-folder when murking around. It launches then closes quickly after displaying a jumble of stuff.

Yep that is your ADB command, you dont actually run that, but you run commands from the command prompt by

1. hold shift
2 right click in that folder
3. choose "open command window here"

then the adb commands are run from that command prompt window.

1st of all CWM is "ClockWorkMod" - that replaces the recovery part of your tablet, meaning you can backup and restore your tablet from SDCARD

For the market fix, you dont need to do this yet.

You do however need to install the correct drivers for the tablet, and they can be found inside the CWM download here
http://www.mediafire.com/?1ee7cpefu2932hy

Once you extract the drivers, put them in a folder on the desktop, and plug in the tablet to USB, open device manager on the PC and right click the tablets uninstalled driver icon, choose update driver > choose I have the disk, and point it to the .inf file in the USB drivers folder you made on the desktop.

It will show you a few options of drivers, you need: Android Composite ADB Device

Install that driver, and now you will be able to communicate with the tablet through the command prompt you open in the ADB folder in platform-tools SDK

Now you have everything you need installed for the tablet to talk to the PC, follow the guide to install the emulator and use the commands given in the tutorial to pull the new ID from the emulator, and push it to the tablet.

No so my friend. Market 'breaks' within days (sometimes hours) of ownership and has nothing to do with disabling the battery eating phone APK's. Det will guide you though the market fix. He's a good chap (if you can take the good looks :P)

GOt all the files, but when I do the install driver, it will just say "Can't find drivers". I pointed to the downloaded location. (I can't point to a specific file.) T-T

On vista, btw.

EDIT: I'm a horrible idiot. It was more elaborate. Had to click "Show more devices..."

EDIT AGAIN: Now it's just stuck at "installing" . No progress, only ticker.

And again..: "Install period time-out." Now the device is listed under"Android Phone" in the device manager. Hmm...

And again: Device properly installed. It sez I have to restart. Must I? And the ADB commands, do I just paste the commands right in? Does it matter if I have the emulator on and the device plugged in at the same time? Also, what do ou mean by installing the market by the Cyanogen?

ohemgee when is teh edits guin tuh stup?: Restarted PC. Tried first command. Had to unplug Scroll. Command went through. THen replugged it in, killed the emu and used the second command...
and it still doesn't work. Maybe I should try the CWM to see if it will pull thorugh, but I have no idea how to apply the mod... T-T

If i edit one more time i am going to die: SO I went into recovery mode and selected "install zip" thing. Installed market zip... annnnnnnnnnnnd... it doesn't work. I should die.

Did you put the new ID from the emulator into the correct part of the the final command ?

Code: Select all
adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.googleapps/databases/gls.db "update meta set intvalue='number_from_previous_commands' where name='androidId'";

In the command above - swap---------- "number_from_previous_commands"------------ with the number from the New Emulator ID

And then try the command again

I ran the first command with the emulator. It outputs nothing. It just makes another "c:/android/platform-tools" line for a new command! How would I get the ID? :(

EDIT: So I plugged in another scroll, right? Ran the "obtain keys command" for it. No "tables for meta." I have only downloaded ONE app with this new scroll. Its brand new. So then I thought "What if I pulled the accounts.db file and just read it in notepad?" Well, the file pulled was only 0kb. No results... Then I did the "pull" on the emulator. "File does not exist". Could this be why I am getting no output when I run the "obtain key" command for the emu? I am anxiously awaiting your reply, Detection.

Another EDIT: After an entire Friday afternoon, I got the tablet to... FAIL. Again. I just noticed that you only had a *brief* summary. So I click on the full guide and did everything. I even got my key. But when I pushed and rebooted... Fail. Market just won't download. Should I apply the patch again? Can I download apps from another device and push to the slate? If so, how?, location of the files?

I might go S S S AND M M M on myself and the scroll if this doesn't work.
