how to use new sound for notification sound

I have downloaded a starwars sound board which states you can save and use as message tones. When I do this it appears in the sound section under notification ringtones but when you click on it to test no sound happens but the standard tones make a sound. What am I doing wrong? Or can you only use standard tones.

Create a directory structure on /nand with Astro (ot other file manager):
/nand/media
/nand/media/audio
/nand/media/audio/notifications
/nand/media/audio/alarm

Copy audio file to notifications or alarm directory and now you can select it in Sound settings menu.
