Is it faulty or just a crap device?

Hi All,
I have read the enthusiasm you all have for the scroll and since I got mine, I just can't see what is so good about it... Or perhaps mine is faulty, or perhaps I have not yet played with it enough to fully appreciate it yet. I bought it with the intention of replacing my grandmother's laptop as she really just uses Skype, email and web but struggles with the complexities of Windows. My initial findings:
* It will not connect to either of our wifi routers at work, despite that every phone/laptop I have had for the last 3 years will. It connects to my Vigor at home. It will not detect the wifi signal from my phone when using JoikuSpot to create a wireless tether.
* The touch screen is really painful. I expected it to be a bit hard as it is resistive but nearly every time I try to scroll down a list of things it opens one of them when I don't want it to. Maps seems to randomly jump from moving around to zooming when you drag across the screen.
* Skype won't run. OK so I should have seen the problems reported with this before buying but some people seem to have it going. What is the point of a tablet PC with camera and microphone that can't do skype calls? Again, I have had skype running, at least for chat, on every phone/PC I have had for the last 5 years.
* Several apps get the screen orientation wrong on some pages (eg Facebook, google sky map...).
* No flash or javascript so although you can view webpages and Facebook, pretty much any attachment/link won't work. It isn't even smart enough to open the Youtube app when you try to view a Youtube video.
* Many other apps won't run - they just seem to hang or return to the home screen.
* No official plans to update firmware or move to the latest version of Android. WTF? Again, phones, last 5 years etc.
I am expecting some abuse for criticising the device on this forum so bring it on!
