According to the current blurb on Storage Option's site the Excel II ships with an Allwinner A10 Cortex A8 processor which has been the choice of processor for the Excel range since the mark 1. However, 2 noticeable differences between the early Excel and the Excel II is the inclusion of Bluetooth and a reduction in the battery capacity right down to 2,800 mAh.

When you bear in mind that at one time the early Excels shipped with an advertised battery capacity of 4,200 mAh that is quite a drop and with additional power consumption that Bluetooth requires, clearly these were made down to a price ..... not up to a better specification.

So far no one on this forum has found a stable and satisfactory JellyBean ROM that they are completely happy with and if you are expecting Storage Options to provide firmware upgrade to JellyBean for the Excel II then dream on. It just won't happen as the best that Storage Options have managed to do so far is to provide downloadable stock ROM about a year or so after each device is marketed.

As most people on this forum who have tried JB on their Scrolls have reported a shorter battery life - I don't see much future for JB on the Excel II - but hey that is just my opinion. As far as asking for a separate new section for the Excel II, I can't really see that happening either as until people discover more about the Excel II and share their skills and knowledge about it there is no support available yet for it.

In the round, but bearing in mind that if you brick it you take responsibility, as the Excel II is based on the Famous Allwinner A10 then theoretically you can't completely brick it as you can always coax it back to life via the USB/CPU interface which allows you to flash a new ROM using Livesuite.

However, don't expect to just ask and someone will give you all the answers as it just doesn't work that way. The forum needs the skills of its owners to share their knowledge and experiences of their tablets to keep others informed, and as you are amongst the first of the Excell II owners then you probably have more knowledge about it than the rest of us who don't have one.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

I think you may be under a misapprehension - this site is not owned or run by Storage Options. It is just a group of folk, like you, who have bought their product and are helping each other out.

I can see why you might think my response to your original post was rude if as BobC suggests (and I agree with his deduction) that you are under the misapprehension that this forum is in any way run or controlled by Storage Options.
It is not - it is an independent group of folk who all have a common link, being that they have bought a Scroll tablet and are seeking support and help which (as you have correctly assumed) they can't seem to get from Storage Options directly.

As I went to the trouble of pointing out in my reply to you, the Excel II has not had time to make its presence felt on the forum yet which is why I suggested that you probably know more about it than many folk on here who don't have one. My comments regarding the chances of you obtaining stock firmware for the device (or come to that any new Scroll firmware) are virtually zero because this is something that most people on this forum have already found out - Storage Options just don't want to do it.

I am sorry if you misunderstood my comments which were meant to aid you and nothing else.
Storage Options suggest to contact them in case of any problems that can't be solved using their FAQ by email to "You can contact our UK based technical support team via email on support@storageoptions.com. "

Their web site is here: http://www.storageoptions.com/ I am sorry that you didn't like the message but I'm afraid you have simply shot the messenger with your retorts - not Storage Options who have nothing to do with the running of this independent forum. ;)
